Seven riders are already confirmed for the season opener at the Madrid Arena on 28 November 2026.
The countdown is on: the 2027 FIM X-Trial World Championship will begin in Madrid on Saturday 28 November 2026 at 6pm. With seven of the eight riders already confirmed, the Spanish capital is preparing for an opening round packed with sporting ambition, returning rivalries and new challenges.
Madrid has provided contrasting outcomes in its two most recent editions. Jaime Busto won in December 2024, at the opening round of the 2025 season, before Toni Bou reclaimed victory in October 2025 during the 2026 campaign, ahead of Gabriel Marcelli and Busto. This time, the first victory of a new championship will be at stake.
Having just celebrated his 40th birthday and reached an extraordinary total of 40 world titles across X-Trial and TrialGP, Toni Bou begins another chapter in his remarkable career. The reigning champion will launch his pursuit of a 21st consecutive X-Trial world title, determined to extend a winning streak unmatched in the discipline.
Gabriel Marcelli arrives with a new status after securing his first World Championship runner-up finish in 2026. He will be looking to build on that breakthrough, defend his position and take the next step: challenging Bou for victory from the opening round.
For Jaime Busto, Madrid offers the opportunity to strike back. World Championship runner-up in 2023, 2024 and 2025, he knows what it takes to win in the Spanish capital. His previous success here adds another dimension to a contest in which every mistake could prove decisive.
Harry Hemingway will aim to build on his fourth place in the 2026 championship. After a season that included his first X-Trial podium, the British rider will be eager to confirm his progress and challenge the established contenders.
Fifth overall in 2026, Matteo Grattarola brings extensive experience and the ability to compete for podium positions. The Italian will be looking for a strong start and a place in the final.
Crowned 2026 Trial2 World Champion, Arnau Farré earns a place for the first half of the season. Already fourth at the previous Madrid edition, the Spaniard has shown that Indoor competition suits him. This extended opportunity gives him the chance to build consistency and aim even higher.
Meanwhile, Miquel Gelabert will take on the challenge aboard his electric Honda. Madrid provides a prominent stage to demonstrate both his own ability and the potential of electric technology on demanding Indoor sections.
An eighth rider will complete the line-up, with an announcement to follow.
The previous edition welcomed a sell-out crowd of 6,000 spectators, and ticket sales for this year are already progressing strongly. With the opening victory of the season on the line, the Madrid Arena promises another memorable evening for dedicated Trial fans and newcomers alike.
