Sondre Haga to return at X-Trial Madrid

The Norwegian completes the line-up for the opening round of the 2027 season, on 28 November at the Madrid Arena.

Sondre Haga will return to the FIM X-Trial World Championship for the season opener in Madrid. Awarded a wild card by the promoter, the Norwegian rider becomes the eighth competitor confirmed for X-Trial Madrid on Saturday 28 November 2026.

His last championship appearance came in Tallinn on 26 April 2025, when he finished seventh. That event concluded a season in which he also competed in Madrid, Stavanger and Cahors, finishing ninth in the overall standings.

Since making his debut in Bilbao in 2019, Haga has contested 17 FIM X-Trial World Championship events. His best result remains fourth place in Andorra la Vella in 2022, just outside the podium positions. He has also made his mark aboard the electric GasGas TXE GP, helping introduce the technology to the highest level of Indoor Trial.

Madrid is familiar territory for the Norwegian: he finished sixth at the opening round of the 2025 season, held on 21 December 2024. His return will offer another opportunity to compete against the sport’s leading riders and target a place in the final.

His confirmation completes the Madrid line-up. Sondre Haga joins Toni Bou, Gabriel Marcelli, Jaime Busto, Harry Hemingway, Matteo Grattarola, Arnau Farré and Miquel Gelabert. Eight riders will gather at the Madrid Arena to launch the 2027 season and battle for the first championship points.

X-Trial Madrid gets underway on Saturday 28 November at 6:00 pm local time.
