Barcelona celebrates its 50th edition

Some events become part of a sport’s history. On Sunday 7 February 2027, the Trial Indoor de Barcelona celebrates its 50th edition at the Palau Sant Jordi. This milestone brings generations of fans together for a special occasion on the FIM X-Trial World Championship calendar.

Eight riders will compete for victory on a stage where a win carries particular meaning. Beyond the championship points, each will be aiming to add their name to the honours list of this landmark edition.

A tradition born in 1978

Created in 1978 by the magazine Solo Moto, the Barcelona event helped bring Trial into the arena and closer to its audience. Originally held at the Palau d’Esports, it moved to the Palau Sant Jordi in 1991.

From Jordi Tarrés and Dougie Lampkin to Adam Raga and Toni Bou, generations of champions have helped shape its reputation. The 50th edition celebrates that sporting heritage while giving today’s riders the chance to write the next chapter.

Bou sets the benchmark

On 8 February 2026, Toni Bou claimed his 19th victory in Barcelona, ahead of Jaime Busto and Gabriel Marcelli. That result further strengthened his remarkable relationship with the event.

For this 50th edition, the sporting challenge matches the significance of the occasion: can Bou add another Barcelona victory, or will a rival take the honours on this special day?

The programme also includes the Women’s Trophy, bringing women’s Indoor Trial into the spotlight alongside the World Championship action.
